He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas and Lucy Purgason Rakestraw of Bethany; his wife Ann Fuller Thrasher; his sister-in-law Nancy Thrasher Joyce; and his siblings, Shirley Rakestraw Joyce, Frances Rakestraw Irving, Annie Rakestraw Faggart, Percy, James, Raymond and Robert Rakestraw.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Hair (Roger) of Stoneville, Charles (Susan) of Stokesdale and Richard Rakestraw of Burlington; and his grandchildren, Peyton Rakestraw, Thomas Hair and Anna Hair (Matt Michael). He is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.
