With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Ruth Lowrey Blackburn (Stokesdale, North Carolina), born in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, who passed away on October 28, 2023 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband William "Clay" Blackburn; her parents, John R. Lowrey and Ruth Walker Lowrey of Oak Ridge; and her brother Johnny Lowrey of Kernersville. She is survived by: her daughters, Pat Smith (Phillip) and Debbie Shropshire Whetstone (Bob); her grandchildren, Grey Smith (Stephanie), Patrick Smith (Susan), Misty Felde (Dustin), Jessica Smith, Brian Shropshire, Kristie Shropshire (Sam), Sean Shropshire (Jessica), Lyndsey Chilton (James) and Josh Whetstone; her sisters, Betsy Neal and Linda Pegg (Ray); and her sisters-in-law, Mary Blackburn of Virginia, Sadie Lasley and Betty Vogler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Hospice of the Piedmont (High Point, NC).
