He is survived by: his wife Pauline Smith Hand; his son David William "Wolfie" Hand, Jr.; his wife Shirley of Reidsville; his brother Jim Gentry of Stokesdale; and his stepgrandchildren, Eddie McKinney, Kim Goodson and Matt Steele. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
