She was predeceased by: her parents, Sallie Martin Hairston and Sylvester Hairston; her husband Edgar Carroll; her children, Peggy Miller, Anthony Carroll and Charles Carroll; and her brother Dewayne Hairston.

She is survived by: her children, Sandra Miller of Charlotte, NC, Steven Carroll of Stuttgart, Germany, Lewis Carroll of Stokesdale, NC and Lisa Hama (Karim) of High Point; and her siblings, Cedric Taylor, Carl Taylor, Fabian Taylor and Candace Dobbins.
