We are sad to announce that on February 8, 2023, at the age of 76, Steve Wayne Matthews of Statesville, North Carolina, born in Alexander, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Calvin Matthews and Thelma Dagenhart Bumgarner; his wife Mary Frances Branton Matthews; and his brother Willie Mathews. He is survived by: his children, Darrell W. Matthews (Cindy) of Statesville and Crystal M. Cook (David) of Statesville; his grandchildren, Amber M. Robinson (Brandon), Ethan Matthews (Morgan), Brayson Matthews, Carrie Durham and Janet Taylor; his stepgrandson Heath Cook; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Brooklynn, Braxton, Brayleigh, Brenlee, Lawson and Harper; and his nieces, Julie and Jeannie.
Memorials may be given to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 848 Pisgah Church Rd, Stony Point, NC.
