He was predeceased by: his parents, Roby Lackey and Ina Mae Gibson Lackey; his grandson Garrick Lackey; and his siblings, Harold, Andy, Russell, Billy, Leroy Lackey and Margaret Lundy.

He is survived by: his sister Johnsie Moulton; his sons, Richard (Pam Lackey) and Robert J (Carol Lackey); his grandchildren, Kimberlee, Philip Clapsaddle, Robert W, Lauren Lackey, Sara Lackey, Jeffrey Lackey and Marlee Lackey; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrick, Phelix Clapsaddle and Skylar Rose Lackey.
