He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Hazel Faye Wall Whitaker; his wife Carolyn Judith Morris; and his siblings, Charles Whitaker, Johnny Whitaker, Mitchell Whitaker, Mary McDaniel, Bobbie Wall, Lucille Wall, Sally Trivette, Nancy Whitaker, Faye McCary and Bessie Whitaker.
He is survived by: his close friend Jewell Kiser; his sister Linda Basinger; his nieces, Ann Sain and Debbie Lyerly; and his nephew Gavin Kiser.
