She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlos Mejia and Ana Mejia; her husband Marino Antonio Teran; her daughter Esperanza Yepez Mejia; her grandson Leonardo Pineda; and her siblings, Climaco Mejia, Eduardo Mejia, Mario Mejia, Antonio Mejia, Aurora Mejia, Teresa Mejia, Mariela Mejia, Ana Mejia and Rosa Mejia.
She is survived by: her children, Luis Hurtado of Santiago, Chile, Nancy Fabiola Hurtado of Cali, Claudia Shaw of Statesville and Gloria Teran-Mejia of Statesville; her grandchildren, Edison, Diego Leon Pineda, Cesar, Luis, Maria Navarrette, Mateo Arrango, Angelly, David and Zair Hurtado; her great grandchildren, Alison, Natalia Pineda, Noah Arrango, Emanuel Gutierrez, Maria, Juan Navarrette, Leonor Castillo, Erick, Diego Pineda, Samuel Hurtado Tapias, Helen and Honey Hurtado; her daughter Maria Chatham of Conover; and her caregiver Angela Leach of Statesville.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 4:30 PM at the Iglesia Luz. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
