He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd B. Dickson and Vera Turner Dickson; his wife Caroline M. Dickson; his siblings, Ben Dickson, Robert Dickson, Vera Buff, Doris Jeffries and Joyce Southern; and his granddaughter Lauren Dickson.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Link (Johnny), John Dickson Jr. (Eddie), Curtis Dickson (Jean), Cynthia "Cissy" Murdock (Freddie) and Patricia Adelfio (Peter); and his sister Ruth Bailey. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren; and his nineteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kepner Funeral Home (16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Northlake Memorial Gardens (11001 Alexandriana Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078).
