He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Hinson and Hazel Hinson; and his brothers, Buddy Hinson, Bob Hinson and Carroll Hinson.

He is survived by: his sister Judy Harwell; his daughters, Carrie Benner (Chris) of Newton, NC, Kelly Berrier (Chap) of Clemmons, NC and Holly Holland of Mooresville, NC; his grandchildren, Mallory Davis (Luke), Jarret Benner (Meggie), Brinley Benner, Brett Berrier (Sam), Abby Berrier, McKenzie Martin, Sam Martin, Mylee Martin and Sadie Hinson; his great grandchildren, Gaines Davis, Elsley Davis, Parks Davis, Briggs Benner, Baby Benner and Baby Berrier; and his close friends, Randall, Ginger Meadows, Ricky Osborne, Ricky Cook, Tommy Moose, Saundra Ballard, Frank Cook and Miranda Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gordon Hospice House and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
