He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Eugene and Effie Mae McDaniel Safriet; his wife Shirley Stikeleather Safriet; and his siblings, Thelma Gentle, Ethel "Tom" Mayhew, Lorene West, Gladys Safriet, Dorothy Hensley, Bill Safriet and Aaron Safriet.
He is survived by: his children, Dianne Pollock (Ralph) of Columbia, SC and Rev. Rick Safriet (Kim) of Lenoir, NC; his grandchildren, Chad Pollock (Christy), Christie Davis (Jodi), Jonathan Safriet (Michelle), Jana Soop (Brady) and Jason Safriet (Kaylin); and his brother Dink Safriet (Tammy) of Salisbury, NC. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
