He was predeceased by: his father William Charlie Gilbert; and his son Donald James "Jamie" Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Haithcox Gilbert; his daughters, Jennifer Latini (Bobby) and Maranda Elwood; his grandchildren, Madalyn Lloyd and Noah Latini; and his brother Jimmy Gilbert (Barbara).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Helping Hands Fund, (which Freddie started), 1950 Salisbury Rd., Statesville, NC 28677.
