He was predeceased by: his mother Vivian Wellmann Smith; his wife Shirley Carson Smith; and his brother Dondi Smith. He is survived by: his children, Tony Long of Statesville, Gary Carson (Sandra) of Statesville, Lon-Yetta Smith of Statesville and Kristi Smith of Statesville; and his grandchildren, Dimia Sherae Smith of Hickory and Sparkle Deon Long of Stateville.
