He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Burkett "Burt" Bass and Marie Redmond Bass; and his siblings, Elva Ostwalt, Virginia Bass, Roy Bass and Ken Bass.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Jean Bennett; his children, Edward "Eddie" Bass (Tom) of Hickory, Melissa B. Stutts (Richard) of Mooresville, Rodney Bass (Cindy) of Kernersville and Scotty Bass of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Addison Stutts, Paxton Stutts Perley, Kristin Bass Thrash, Hunter Bass and Ciara Bass; his great grandchild Lyla Bass; and his sisters, Shirley Beaver and Jessie St. John. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
