With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy E. Gaither (Statesville, North Carolina), who passed away on March 26, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Dorothy may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Dorothy touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Parks Edwards and Lacy James Edwards; and her brother David Franklin Edwards. She is survived by: her daughter Jennifer Stevenson; her son-in-law Paul Stevenson; her son Allen Gaither; her daughter-in-law Marie Gaither; and her grandsons, Matthew Stevenson and Daniel Stevenson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Dorothy's memory through acts of kindness to those in need or by planting a tree or garden in her honor—a fitting tribute to a woman who cherished life's natural beauty and nurtured it with tenderness.
