He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Mason and Lelia Newton Mason; and his brothers, Clarence, Lester, Roy, Charlie, Earnest and Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lois Owens Mason; his daughter Sharon Mason Henry; his son-in-law Steve; his siblings, Maggie Lee Wilfong and Johnny Mason; his grandchildren, Ashley, Alicia, Nikki, Shelly, Precyous and Tarji (Shannon); his great grandchildren, Michael, Cobe, Aryana, Ellani, Alesha, Anesha, Rodrick, Jay'ceon and De'jon; and his close friend James Thompson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
