He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Leona Rix; his daughter Julie Nicholson (Todd) of Statesville; his sister Barbara Woods of Greensboro; his grandson David Mathew Nicholson (Hannah) of Statesville; and his great grandchild Ryleigh. He was also cherished by several other nieces and nephews and many close friends.
