It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carlene Christy Schafer (Statesville, North Carolina), who passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rubert Christy and Vilie Ann Barbee Christy. She is survived by: her husband John Schafer Jr. of Statesville, NC; her children, Christy Schafer Allen (Billy), Brian Schafer (Lynda) of Troutman, NC, John Schafer III of Troutman, NC, Lisa K. Schafer of Statesville, NC and Daniel Schafer (Lisa D.) of Statesville, NC; her grandchildren, Jessica Schafer, Bekah Schafer Crabtree (Jordan), Logan Allen (Robin Palmer), Blakeley Allen Richard (Aidan), Lane Schafer, Nick Schafer and Nathan Schafer; her great grandchild Cooper Crabtree; her cousin Mary Jennings Perkins; and her siblings, Margaret Christy Creed, E. L. Christy (Rachel) and W. D. Christy (Gale). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
