He was predeceased by: his parents, Hardy Walston and Betsy Walston; his sister Adele Windham; and his grandson Kevin Walston. He is survived by: his wife Rochelle Walston; his children, Rose Gill (Jimmy) of Stantonsburg and James E. Walston, Jr. (Jackie) of Stantonsburg; and his siblings, Sallie Whitley of Wilson, Billy Walston (Fannie) of Stantonsburg and Bobby Walston (Dee) of Raleigh. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
