He was predeceased by: his father J. Preston Bass, Jr.; and his brother-in-law Lee Smith. He is survived by: his son Marshall Bass of Wilson; his grandson Jaxson Bass; his mother Ellen Eason Bass of Stantonsburg; his siblings, Brooks Bass (Cindy) of Wilson and Donna Smith of Elm City; and his fiancé Allison Collins.
