He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Whitley, Sr. and Marguerite Waldenmaier Whitley; and his parents-in-law, Robert William Bynum III and Jean Redick Bynum. He is survived by: his wife Beki Bynum Whitley; his children, Sarah Bynum Whitley of Greenville, Dr. Daniel Whitley III (Katharine) of Swansboro and William Macon Whitley of Stantonsburg; his grandchildren, James Redick Whitley and Cameron Elizabeth "Ella" Whitley; and his brother-in-law Dr. Robert William Bynum IV (Faye) of Rocky Mount.
