It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Hawley (Stanley, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Royce Edwin Hawley and Louise Rhyne Hawley; his wife Phyllis Helms Hawley; and his sister Martha Bowman. He is survived by : his children, Prissy Helms (Johnny), Royce Hawley (Nela), Shelley Bolt (Jimmy) and Terri Hedrick; his grandchildren, Sean Helms, Christian Hawley, Nicholas Bolt (Jessi) and Victoria Hawley; and his sisters, Patsy Koehler and Frances Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ's Lutheran Church, 203 South Main Street, Stanley, NC 28164.

“Wayne Jamison: Sorry to hear the passing of our oldest cousin. At my last uncle, Junior's, funeral a couple months ago, I was surprised and pleased that Bill chose to sit beside me. I thought my dad did not start dating my mother until after the war, but Bill said that Paul often came to Esta's home when he was home from the service during the war. He noted that Grandpaw Hawley would give my dad a pretty cold shoulder, but that was just Grandpaw Hawley doing his thing. I loved that insight.”
