She was predeceased by: her father Alex; her husband Sam Vanover; her son William Alex Vanover; her grandson Jonathan Samuel Vanover; and her brother Walter Hale.
She is survived by: her children, Shirley Darlene Hall of Stanley, NC and Sam Vanover, Jr. (Kathy) of Gastonia, NC; her sisters, Edith Faye Baker of Stanley, NC and Shirley Brooks of Gastonia, NC; and her grandchildren, Lora Vanover, Jason Vanover (Amanda), Jennifer Harrington, Amanda Vanover, Tommy Stevenson (Nicole) and Michael Stevenson (Rhonda). She is also survived by several step grandchildren; several great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
