It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathy Elaine Underwood of Stanley, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on April 11, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Patrick McCoy Bumgarner and Dorothy Warlick Huffstetler; her daughter Selina Kim Ballard; and her sister Sandra Boone. She is survived by: her daughter Candise Madrid (Monty) of Stanley; her siblings, Curtis Bumgarner of Stanley and Patricia Pruitt of Denver; and her grandchildren, Thad Nolan Ballard of Lincolnton and Linden Macayla Ballard of Newton.
