He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe James Meeler and Isabel Woody Meeler; his son James Curtis Meeler, Jr.; and his brother Ronald Meeler. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Wright Meeler; his daughter Teresa Meeler Morgan; his son-in-law Jeromy Morgan; his siblings, Billie Jo Featherstone, Wanda Allen, Kim Flowers (Chuck), Richard Meeler, Kenneth Meeler, Joe Meeler, Reggie Meeler and Donald Meeler (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jacob and Caitlyn; and his great grandchildren, Waylon and Mason. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
