He is survived by: his wife Melody Sprinkle Abernathy; his mother Shirley Hoyle; his son Dakota Eli Abernathy; his stepchildren, Candy Marchand (Raymond) and David Altman, III (Vicky); his brother Richard Abernathy; his grandchildren, Julia Marchand, Alex Marchand, Tiffany Garcia, Jessie Funderburk and Cristopher Altman; and his great grandchildren, Lucas Garcia, Milli Altman and Jason Altman.
