He was predeceased by: his father Aaron Kenneth Shaw; and his siblings, Bill Shaw and Jane Shaw. He is survived by: his wife Patty Shaw; his siblings, Tony Shaw (Martha) and Jean Shaw Reid; his sister-in-law Rachel Shaw; and his pet Harley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House at 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
