He was predeceased by: his wife Valda Stephens; and his parents, Louise Stephens and Herman Stephens. He is survived by: his granddaughters, Corie and Brooke Henderson; his daughters, Lamar Evans and Starr Henderson; his sons-in-law, Gus Evans and Dan Henderson; and his sister Delia Stephens.
