He was predeceased by: his parents, Toye Mabrey and Nellie Hamrick Mabrey; his wife Polly Cherry Mabrey; and his siblings, Peggy Dyson, Ruby Robinson, Evelyn Hollifield, Carl, James, Charles and John Mabrey.

He is survived by: his children, Cyndi Mabrey Whitson of Lake Wylie, SC and Christopher Mabrey (Amy Marie Wingate); his siblings, Doris Dellinger, Kay Blanton and Olen Mabrey; and his granddaughters, Katelyn Whitson and Kristen Whitson.
