He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Whitley and Ruth Morgan Whitley; and his sister-in-law Dean Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Hash Whitley; his children, Joe Whitley (Ashley), Emily Smith (Scott) and Meredith Slaughter (Josh); his grandchildren, Olivia Whitley, Colton Whitley, Rush Whitley, Whitley Smith, Landin Smith, Morgan Smith and Tucker Smith; and his brothers, John Whitley (Saundra) and James Whitley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
