He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. John Henry and Annie Bright Connell; and his daughters, Beverly Smith and Velinda Munson. He is survived by: his children, John Michael Connell (Gail) of Fayetteville and Cindy Newell (Frankie) of Concord; and his grandchildren, D. J., Amanda, Jason, Michele, Mark, Candace and Amber.
