He was predeceased by: his parents, Simeon Jason Efird and Sarah Ella Burris Efird; his wife Jewell Little Efird; and his siblings, Mary Lambert, Fannie Almond, Minnie Furr, Wilma Burleson, Aileen Huskey, Homer Efird, Getus Efird and Wayne Efird, Sr..

He is survived by: his children, Gerald Wayne Efird (Gail) of Albemarle and Lisa Efird Hartsell (Mark) of Stanfield; his granddaughters, Kelly Efird Barbee and Lauren Hartsell Crump (Justin); and his great grandchildren, Ian Patrick Simmons and Elliot Jacob Simmons.
