He was predeceased by: his siblings, Kim Avery, Patsy Vance, Janice Wise and Judge Avery. He is survived by: his wife Linda Greene Avery; his children, William Waightstill Avery, III (Dawn) of Plumtree, Anne Avery Foster (Eric) of Plumtree and April Avery Ferguson (Chip) of Sylva, NC; his sisters, Linda Shumate (Sam) of Warrenville, NC and Diane Brooks (Michael) of Helena, AL; his granddaughter Jessica Nelson (Steven); and his great grandchildren, Sully, Addy, Wrenn, Emma and Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be mailed to: Buck Hill Presbyterian Church, 1000 Buck Hill Road, Newland, NC 28657.
