She was predeceased by: her parents, Jay Briggs and Mary Cooper Briggs; her husband Carl Peterson; her children, Cathy Diane Ramsey and Joey McKinney; and her siblings, Edna Peterson, Beulah Thomas and Lee Briggs.
She is survived by: her children, Jamie McKinney (Cindy) of Burnsville, Linda Norman of Spruce Pine, Carl Peterson, Jr. (Crystal) of Mountain City, TN and Dallas Kay Peterson (Hazel) of Bluff City, TN; her grandchildren, Josh McKinney (Amy), Cody McKinney, Whitney Townsend (Hogan), Mary Beth Hise, Courtney Craig (Caleb), Samuel Ramsey, Rachel Ball (Nathan), Lindsey Pittman (Zach), Joel McKinney, Sheila Ann Peterson, Roger Peterson and Richie Peterson; her siblings, Frank Briggs (Betty) of Green Mountain, Kathy Kimery (Gary) of Limestone, TN and Pat Baccoli of Weaverville; and her sister-in-law Flora Briggs. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
