He is survived by: his wife Effie Hughes Woody; his sisters-in-law, Kay Freeman of Spruce Pine, Helen Burleson of Newland, Myrtle Billings of Maryland, Estella Wilson of Waxhaw, Minnie and Trula Hughes of Newland; and his nephew Greg Freeman of Newland. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
