It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary M. Ballew (Spruce Pine, North Carolina), who passed away on April 29, 2019, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Edward Ballew; her siblings, Ray, Virgil, Clarence, Claude McKinney, Myrtle Grayson, Jeannie Pipes and Helen Bailey; her children, Suzanne (Jerry Russell) of Spruce Pine, Steve of Conroe and John of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren, Chris Wilson of Asheville, Clayton Ballew of Oceanside, California and Brandi (Shawn Mull) of Morganton; her great grandchildren, Cassidy Mull, Claire Mull and Serena Wilson; her siblings, Carolyn (Charles Sproles) of Spruce Pine and Dan (Martha McKinney) of Little Switzerland; her stepgrandchildren, Scott Russell and Kimberly Russell; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Max Young, Zachary Russell, Samantha Oklesson and Matilda Wolfe; her granddaughter Emma Oklesson; and her grandmother Hattie Hollifield Ballew. She was also cherished by her numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
