She was predeceased by: her parents, Elize Gouge and Carrie Ollis Gouge; her husband Robert C. Buchanan; and her siblings, Joe, John, Mallie Gouge, Ann Franklin, Jenny Canipe, Vestine Buchanan, Bell Joines, Savannah Shuford, Naomi Hensley, Roberta Gouge and Kate Gouge.
She is survived by: her daughter Juanita "Red" McKinney; her grandson Wayne of Spruce Pine; her great grandchildren, Samuel Clay McKinney (Patricia) of Johnson City, TN and Bobbi Joe Carpenter (Dean) of Spruce Pine; her great great grandchildren, Axle, Addy Carpenter, Rayland and Justin Stacy; her sisters, Gloria Stewart of Celo and Frances Creson of Celo; and her extended family, Charles and Carolyn Parsons of Newland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
