She was predeceased by: her husband James Roscoe Buchanan; her siblings, Lela Duncan, Marie Sparks, Melba Rhyne, Jim, Joe and Willard Buchanan; and her grandson Jamie Pitman.

She is survived by: her children, Judy Pitman (James) of Spruce Pine, Dennis Buchanan (Susie) of Spruce Pine, Richard Buchanan (Wanda) of Spruce Pine and Stanley Buchanan of Spruce Pine; and her siblings, Phyllis Sirovy of Texas and Jack Buchanan of Virginia.
