He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Andrew and Claira Moody Benfield; and his siblings, Justin, George, Donald, Wayne, James Benfield, Martha Calloway, Nola Benfield and Frances Sheehan.
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Benfield of Morganton and Jacob Benfield (Tonya) of Morganton; his grandchildren, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Kaiden, Kayleigh, Zachary, Savanah, Caleb, Tyler, Chasity and Nikki; and his brother Bill Benfield (Chenill).
