She is survived by: her children, Richard (Ann), Gerald (Michelle) and Beverly (James); her stepsons, Ray Lee (Karon) and Warren; her daughter-in-law Peggy; her siblings, Jackie Thomas and Jim Gouge; her husband Jack; her siblings, George, Bill Gouge and Joyce Ellis; her stepson Ken; and her granddaughter Diane Sullins. She is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Pine Branch Baptist Church (48 Church Rd, Spruce Pine, NC 28777). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
As an extension of her impact, memorial donations can be made to Pine Branch Baptist Church to support the Shining Light Ministry, a program ensuring Mitchell County school children have access to food on the weekends — a cause close to Joann's heart.More than anything, Jo reveled in the joy of family.
