He was predeceased by: his parents, Veed Garland and Mary Sue Fox Garland. He is survived by: his wife Marquetia Hollifield Garland; his children, Jared Garland (Suzanne) of Spruce Pine and Becky Loftis (Bo) of Marion; his siblings, Connie Ray of Spruce Pine, Ruth Wyatt of Spruce Pine, Dinah Johnson (Dick) of Marion and Michael Garland of Spruce Pine; and his aunt Ramona Garland of Spruce Pine.
