He is survived by: his parent Mae Cox Buchanan; his wife Barbara S. Buchanan of Spruce Pine; his daughters, Elizabeth Blair (Michael) of Spruce Pine and Rebecca Buchanan of Spruce Pine; his granddaughter Katherine Blair of Spruce Pine; and his sister Augusta Gross of Spruce Pine.
