He was predeceased by: his parents, Bascom Boston and Nora Cox Boston; and his siblings, Willie McKinney, Joe Boston and Ralph Boston.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Willis Boston; and his children, James Buck Boston (Tina) of Spruce Pine, Gary Boston (Emma) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sue Harrison (Kenny) of Burnsville and Tim Boston (Linda) of Spruce Pine. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
