Dorothy McKinney Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy McKinney of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 3, 2024 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Ray and Lillie Mae Fox Ray; her husband Ralph Lane McKinney; her children, Donald R., Roger D. McKinney and Joyce Berry; and her siblings, Reva Radford, Ruby Wilson, Carson, Shelby, LeRoy Ray and Walmart.
She is survived by: her daughter Shelby Jean Burnette of Marion, NC; her siblings, Margie (Buddy Griner) of Hendersonville, NC and Bis Ray (Edna Ray) of Burnsville, NC.; her children-in-law, Judy McKinney of Marion, NC, Brenda McKinney of Rowland, NC and Vinson Berry of Seaford, VA; and her caregivers, Debbie Edwards, Donna Bennett, Doris Riddle, Sarah McKinney, Shirley McKinney, Loretta Zahn and Pam Johnson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, seventeen great, great grandchildren.
Due to a lack of ample parking at the family home and the continued risk of COVID, the family will be receiving guests during visitation at Grassy Creek Baptist Church from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
