He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Buchanan and Ella Mae Grindstaff Buchanan; his wife Frances Buchanan; his daughter Vickie Phillips; and his grandson Brandon Whitson.
He is survived by: his daughter Lynda Buchanan; and his granddaughter Connie Runion (Mark). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Mine Creek Baptist Church (327 Bear Creek Church Rd, Bakersville, NC 28705-7271).
