He was predeceased by: his parents, Hector Barefoot and Katie Stewart Barefoot; and his siblings, Ernest Barefoot, Martin "Buddy" Barefoot, Garland Barefoot, Elizabeth Harrell and Lenora Sharpe.
He is survived by: his wife Sallie Holley Barefoot; his son Eldridge R. Barefoot, Jr. (Ruth); his granddaughter Tara Roberts (Mickey); his great grandchildren, Cole and Caroline; and his sister Geneva Massengill. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
