He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Burgess and Callie Owensby Burgess; and his wife Elizabeth "Libby" Gossett Burgess. He is survived by: his children, Shane Burgess of Spindale and April Burgess-Johnson (Willow) of Asheville; his nephew Keith Biggerstaff of Forest City; and his friend Rodney Terry of Cliffside.
