He was predeceased by: his parents, Irma and William Avery; and his siblings, Bill, Ray Avery and Darlene Sellers.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia A Avery of La Feria; and his sons, Robert A Avery (Fran) of Ashburn, VA, Barry L. Avery (Ginger) of Lakeside and Ronald Avery (Kathleen) of Warrenton, VA.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
