He was predeceased by: his father Charles Dean Choate. He is survived by: his mother Marie C. Thompson; his wife Cheri Choate; his stepsons, Ceran Maples of Sparta and Nathaniel Maynard of Sparta; his brother Sam Choate (Margaret) of Hickory; and his nieces, Samantha Choate Dwyer (Josh) of Forest, VA and Katie Choate of Durham.
