He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Coolidge Vestal, Sr. and Dorothy Black Vestal; and his grandson Landon Matthew Vestal. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Bryant Vestal; his sons, James Matthew Vestal (Melissa) of Sparta and Jason Brandon Vestal (Carrie) of Elkin; his grandchildren, Will Vestal, Alexandra Vestal, Austin Vestal, Brodrek Helms, Wyatt Smith and Lawton Smith; and his sister Susan Vestal Mooneyhan (Richard) of Sparta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
